My Folks

Two people who deserve more dignity
Their fate just makes me weep
Fewer and fewer memories
That they're allowed to keep

The recollection is fading
Full clarity is rare
This cursed disease
Stealing you from all of us that care

Every day that goes away
Each thought that disappears
Takes my folks away from us
I'm feeling full of fear

As your garden fades
I see that you do as well
I look around for comfort
But this just feels like hell

To whom I'm meant to be

As you may know, both my mom and dad have been affected by Alzheimer's. Because I have seen firsthand the impact this disease has, I am participating in the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk®.
Funds raised through Memory Walk help support scientific investigations into better treatments and a possible cure for Alzheimer’s. And for the millions already affected by the disease, Memory Walk donations help to provide care, support and education programs.
